Can’t help posting all these pictures taken by @barefoot.lee because he really knows how to take photos of me I’m gonna like, so bear with me ok ? • Having some trouble getting rid of the lies diet culture (and a year or so of religiously going to the gym and reading fit instagram posts) drilled in my head. I used to be super low fat, extra low carb, jumping rope in my parents’ basement, walking miles and miles after meals, tried CrossFit, got scared of eating anything non organic, gave up meat because it was the only way I could let myself eat other kinds of protein, did everything I could to feel clean inside and out, felt awful anytime I would let the day slip without a veggie or some kind of exercise... and even with what I know now, I still feel like I’m being bad for enjoying certain foods, I see my body as that estranged thing that I have to manipulate and control, I still tell myself “if you lose those few extra pounds you’ll be a better person”. • I vow to

While out on our six day trip this year, we went over to a deeper side of the lake and caught two Kokanee! Kokanee is a word from the Okanagan language referring to land-locked lake populations of sockeye salmon. They do not migrate to the sea, instead living out their entire lives in freshwater. This all happened around 15,000 years ago when a large ice melt created a series of freshwater lakes and rivers across the northern part of North America. While some members of the salmon family went out to sea, others stayed behind in fresh water. The last photo is of the Kokanee next to a couple of the lake trout we caught.
Time spent amongst the trees is never wasted time. When we were in @TourismeQuebec we spent the night at @LesToitsDuMonde in the @tourismelaurentides Region. This is the place to stay if you like unique accommodations - There are yurts, tree houses, a hobbit home + a teepee! @juliiathompson @dineandfash @allons.y @brookewillson + I loved our stay here. 🙂 #quebecoriginal #borntoletgo #thelaurentians [ad] 📷 @braedin
I cried when we reached the top of the ridge. I was already having a tough time climbing on all these boulders with my heavy pack and pinched nerve in my neck, and when we finally reached the last 200ft up to the ridge, I was done. I didn't want to go up anymore and there was no way I wanted to go back down. Nick being the Godsend he is, took my pack so it would be easier for me to get up there. 10 minutes later we were standing here. I sat here and I cried with Ray in my arms. I was amazed this little dog could climb a mountain, amazed I could do it. Exhausted and hungry, I was happy we were finally here, and happy we still had 6 days out here. Every emotion was coming out all at once and all I could do was sit there and cry.
If I’m committing to an early morning, it’s probably motivated by an assurance of hot coffee and nice fog on the water. We had both of these on this morning in Quebec. @tourismequebec set us up in some floating cabins at @campinglausanne where this nice dock was only a 2 min walk away. Truthfully this whole region of the Laurentides was packed full of my kind of scenery. Also huge shoutout to @tourismelaurentides for the early morning Tim’s delivery 🙏🏼☕️ #campingdudomainelausanne #quebecoriginal #borntoletgo #thelaurentians #ad
I stumbled across the quote ‘Chaos is a friend of mine’ - By Bob Dylan & immediately thought to myself YEP. This is true. Though stillness and contentment also are friends of mine. There have been times over the last few years, year, months, weeks and even days when my life has felt chaotic, though instead of trying to distance myself from the chaos and asking myself why indeed I’m not able to just lead a completely ‘understood’ life, I choose to embrace the chaos and welcome it. It makes me appreciate those moments of stillness that much more and makes life a little more exciting #freshairandfreedom Photo @braedin Edit 🙋🏼♀️
Hobbit house, treehouse, teepee or yurt? Which one would you pick, if you had to choose? We stayed in the traditional Mongolian yurt (swipe left twice to see it). @lestoitsdumonde is as unique as it gets. Each accommodation is deep in the forest, far removed from everything. The entire property was built using local and renewable materials, and there is a big focus on sustainability, waste reduction, and the preservation of natural resources. If you’re seeking a true escape and authentic experience in nature, this is your place. If you missed it last week, details about this and all the other places we visited in @tourismequebec are up on the blog. Link is in bio. Would you stay in this amazing little treehouse? We visited @lestoitsdumonde on our trip with @tourismequebec and they had some incredible places to stay, including treehouses, hobbit homes, yurts and tp’s. They are surrounded by a gorgeous forest, there is a lake and hiking nearby as well. Best of all, you are off grid; no electricity, wifi, tv so you can really unplug and immerse yourself in nature. Can’t wait to visit here again one day 💛 📸 @braedin @tourismelaurentides #thelaurentians #borntoletgo #quebecoriginal
Not sure what else to say besides I don't think editing is necessary for any of the photos from this trip. I laughed, cried, and felt everything inbetween. Doing hard things suck and is scary most of the time but it is 110% worth it. Our own two feet can take us to the most beautiful places.
QUESTION - What do you prefer... early mornings or late nights? During our week with @tourismequebec we were up early everyday. This was our first morning, waking up at @campinglausanne | @tourismelaurentides | The fog rolled in over the lake, but went away a couple hours later. If we had slept in we would’ve missed this all, so I am grateful everyone else was up for getting up early to take advantage of the day - when the waters calm and majority of people are still fast asleep. With that said I am not much for late nights. Once the suns down my body likes to tell me ‘its time for bed’, but I LOVE rising early 🤣 | My blog post for this trip is now live - head to the link in my story to check it out! It goes through our day to day itinerary - where we stayed, the activities we partook in, and more. You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain 🌈 One of my favourite photos from our @tourismequebec trip and also a good reminder that, even on dark days, there is a light somewhere waiting to emerge! ⛅️ ICYMI yesterday, my blog post from our girls’ adventure is now live! Repost by @juliiathompson • • • Today is my last day with @tourismequebec and although I’m sad to leave it’s been an incredible experience to explore this side of Canada. This morning we had gorgeous conditions with a clear sky and a layer of fog across the water. We’ve visited national parks, seen tons of wildlife, stayed in beautiful little yurts cabins and tents, went canoeing and more; all of my favourite things! CUTENESS ALERT - On our very last day with @tourismequebec we had the opportunity to go and visit @parcomega , a safari park in Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours, just North of Montebello, where we stayed with @fairmontmontebello | The park is a drive-through experience, meaning visitors stay in their cars and drive through the park on a gravel road - observing wildlife in their natural habitat. The park also offers walking trails, playgrounds and picnic areas. The only animals you are able to feed are the elk and the deer, which was such a neat experience! I recently posted about the ‘wolf cabin’ which is located right outside the park, where you can rent a cabin in which you are surrounded by wolves on the property @outaouais #outaouaisfun #quebecoriginal #borntoletgo Photos & video @braedin | Edit 🙋🏼♀️
BLOG ALERT // TRUST ME, if I can do it, so can you! I don’t just mean the hiking, the camping (and yes, even going multiple days without a hot shower 😕), I mean LETTING GO. Like, truly letting go - of everyday stresses, expectations, luxuries, conveniences, cares, internet connections, and just taking it as it comes. It’s really liberating and I totally get it now 💡 TODAY ON THE BLOG, I’m sharing our 6-day girls’ adventure in Québec - where we went, what we did, what we ate, and how I felt after taking a trip that is SO not the usual for me. Where my ‘canoers’ at!? 🛶 We were lucky to have such a beautiful evening during our stay in Opemican National Park. When we arrived we checked into our cabins - which are new just this year! ‘Ready-to-camp Etoile’ then headed down to the lake for some paddle boarding. After that we made some dinner then headed out for an evening canoe. We weren’t sure what the conditions were going to be BUT we did get a beautiful rainbow and had some great fun on the water @outaouais #outaouaisfun | @tourismequebec #quebecoriginal #borntoletgo Photo @braedin Edit 🙋🏼♀️
I totally get why it’s called “breakfast” 🤤. This was obviously worth breaking my fast for! As you guys know, I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for a while and I even kept up with it for the most part on my @tourismequebec trip (which wasn’t always easy, mind you). On our last morning, @allons.y and I decided to go all out at @fairmontmontebello with this breakfast spread. After 5 days of adventuring, Outdoor Krystle definitely deserved this! Now tell me, what’s the first thing you’d reach for on this table? 👇🏽 ad* #fairmontmontebello #borntoletgo #quebecoriginal #outaouaisfun #onthetable #dineandfashtravels #dineandfashtravelstoqc . . . . . #foodstyling #fromabove #igvideo #breakfastvideo #foodphotography #fromabove #breakfastgoals #hotelbreakfast #dametravelerfoodie #handsinframe #foodinhands #topdown #flatlay #flatlays #nomnom
On this @tourismequebec trip, a new person emerged who I never knew I had inside. I named her “Outdoor Krystle”. She can canoe 🛶, make a fire 🔥, hike ⛰, camp 🏕, and make a pretty good s’more 🍢. I like Outdoor Krystle. This photo was taken at Lac Témiscamingue inside Opémican National Park in @tourismeat. The park opened only a few months ago and the facilities inside were brand new, including the ready-to-camp tents that made the experience so easy (not that Outdoor Krystle needed that anyway 💁🏻♀️). While down by the water, we saw a beautiful bald eagle, caught the sunset, and after a short rainfall, a rainbow light up the sky. Definitely a moment to remember! Would you stay here!? 🐺 Had such an amazing time exploring around Quebec this past week. We got to see three regions @tourismelaurentides @tourismeat and @outaouais | On our last day we stopped for a visit at @parcomega in Outaouais where they allowed us to check out their new little ‘wolf cabins’. They currently have two finished and are building 4 more due to the popularity! With my favourite animal being the wolf I was blown away by this accommodation. How neat is this!? #thelaurentians #outaouaisfun #experienceat | @tourismequebec #quebecoriginal #borntoletgo
If you feel like packing your bags and heading off into the bright blue yonder over the next few days then do so without a second thought or a backward glance. The moment you start questioning your actions is the moment the magic will begin to fade.
La Belle Province My trip to Quebec aka 'la belle province' has come to an end. I had a great week exploring 3 regions with @juliiathompson @dineandfash @allons.y + @brookewillson. This photo is from our last night at @fairmontmontebello which is the worlds largest log cabin located along the Ottawa River. Check out my story highlight to see the whole trip. @TourismeQuebec #quebecoriginal #borntoletgo @Outaouais #outaouiaisfun [ad] 📷 @braedin
