It was a busy Palm Sunday for our choristers, with our Schola choristers singing at the 11 am Mass and our St. Nicholas and St. Therese choristers singing at the 6 pm Mass. All choirs did a beautiful job and we are grateful to our students for the tremendous service they provide. #choristers #choirschool #palmsunday #findjoyinmusic #childrenschoir #cathedralchoir #iammcs
Our 3rd and 5th graders had lots of fun today learning about ballet from former chorister and Choir School student, Jonas Malinka-Thompson ('16). Besides asking Jonas lots of questions about what it is like to study to be a professional dancer, our students most enjoyed trying out some ballet steps. #iammcs #mcsalumni #choirschool #ballet #successstartsatmcs
Thank you to @mindfulcoffeecompany for supporting the MCS Superhero 5K today and for supporting us through their coffee sales.
Congratulations to 5th grader Nitai on a great performance this evening, performing Bernstein's Chichester Psalms at Temple Square. Spring has sprung at the Choir School. Happy first day of Spring! 🐣🦋🌷🌞
Special shoutout to these 6th grade girls who did a great job representing the Choir School in Pocatello this weekend. Good job girls!
Congratulations to Oliver, Teddy, and Liam on a wonderful run of The Magic Flute with @utahopera. What fantastic singing from this awesome trio! Oh, and did you see their behind-the-scenes look on the Utah Opera Instagram page today? #magicflute #choirboy #boychorister #zauberflöte #dreiknaben #threespirits #successstartsatmcs #iammcs
Congrats to 7th grader Audrey Kim who has been officially selected for the US Paralympic Swimming Emerging team. In 2018 Audrey became the American record holder for her paraswim classification in the 50m backstroke. In June, she won six medals at her first national meet. Visit our Facebook for more info on Audrey.
Thank you to Ms. Foy for sending this video to us of three of our choristers singing the National Anthem at a championship swimming meet this last Saturday. Our kids did awesome at the meet and they did an excellent job singing the anthem!
Congratulations to Ms. Sarah Wealton on being selected as MCS’s Outstanding Employee of the Year. Ms. Wealton is described by her peers as “an educator who strives to impact the mind and heart of each child she encounters.” We are so happy to have Ms. Wealton as a part of our community.
Our second grade is doing a great job with the violin thanks to Mr. Spindler.
Today we would like to do a special highlight of our wonderful Ms. Lowe. Ms. Lowe is currently an artist in residence at the Museum of Natural History for the Mayan exhibit. She is pictured here with a print of one of her beautiful paintings. You can visit her every Sunday for the next few weeks for 10:30 to 3:30 at the museum.
We absolutely love it when we run into alumni while collaborating with other arts organizations in the Salt Lake Valley. Our three choristers who are singing the Three Spirits in @utahopera's production of The Magic Flute think it's pretty cool that the assistant stage manager who sends them on stage for all their entrances is a Choir School graduate. Thanks, Martin Alcocer (class of 2010), for taking such good care of our choristers! #successstartsatmcs #magicflute #zauberflöte #dreiknaben #threespirits #iammcs #choirschool #mcsalumni
Mr. Glenn led a very enthusiastic Lauds this morning with our students.
Another exciting opportunity for our choristers: The Magic Flute with @utahopera. Six of our St. Gregory choristers started staging rehearsals today in preparation for singing the parts of the Three Spirits. The show opens on March 9 at the Capitol Theatre. Get your tickets now! #somuchdrama #magicflute #zauberflöte #dreiknaben #choirboy #boychoir #choirschool #iammcs #successstartsatmcs
Our sweet 2nd grader, Izzie, loved going to Liberty Senior center today. ❤️
Ms. Mattes has hung up some more of our students amazing art work in Erbin Hall. Here is a selection of pieces done by the 5th and 7th grade. Come see these and other pieces the next time you are on campus.
Our fifth graders started their paper mache projects today in art. They had some very fantastical creatures. We can’t wait to see how their projects turn out. #MCS2019 #IamMCS
