Good afternoon Hackney JC

Huge well done to Zeynep who travelled up to Cardiff in wales to compete in the 2019 British Open Vi and Adaptive champions. She won all contests in both categories becoming the open champion 2019 with some sharp throwing wish Ashi waza and seoi nage. She is quickly adapting to these new events and recent B3 sight clarification. Continues to be a strong year of development for her judo. No surprise as Zeynep is training consistently and even last night made training sharping up before long trip to wales. Keep it up! πŸ’―

Good morning Hackney JC

Well done to the team who put a massive effort in at the High Wycombe summer Ne waza championships yesterday. With some of you doubling up for extra Match practice and competing in 2 groups. Lots of experience gained and great moments to remember and build on. One of the days highlights included Zeynep wining by ippon with a clock strangle koshi jime (variation) against a 3rd dan but there were many great examples of lovely technical judo in the form of turnovers by our team. Recently the top spot has been slightly elusive from Sensei Calvin at last few events losing out in the final of his last 3 events but yesterday returned to winning form taking gold at both the senior Open grade group and the Masters category. Well done Beth who took part in her first ever Ne waza event and got some good wins and some nice bits of technical judo she’s been drilling in training. It was also Jamila’s first Ne waza competition in a while and continued her good form with another gold medal. There were some lovely compliments from both players/ coaches and officials watching our young club express themselves.
Well done to Rafal who also refereed at the event and Zeynep who officiated. Both did great jobs we are proud of you!

9 very tough but well earned medals this weekend at the 25th anniversary of the Kent International 2019

Proud to say effort levels from nearly all our members was very good in a event filled with groups strong in quality from both Britain and internationally such as Georgian and Dutch squads.
Importantly some of our players gained in experience and confidence which is always the key. our Females had a strong weekend with 5 medals. Saturday’s player of the day from HJC was George Holland who in a tough group including more than 1 National medalist won his pool beating a Dutch player and then another good London area player. In this contest he worked so hard and put his all in to the contest to score a ippon in golden score to then make the semi final where he battled but was caught out taking a good bronze medal. Female HJC player of the day on Sunday was Jamila Jeng she out in one of her best performances beating all in her group including Experienced black belts and showed good listening to the coaching and resilience and determination to take the gold. There were other glimpses of great judo throughout the weekend. Well done to Beth who earned another 10 points towards her BJA 1st Dan. Keep it up! β€œWhat you Put in is what you get out”

Good afternoon Hackney JC

Congratulations to all Hackney players who competed yesterday at the London youth games 2019 at Lea valley athletics centre.
You all put in a fantastic effort in pursuit of capturing the LYG title for the 4th consecutive year however this time it’s a solid 2nd place out of 32 competing boroughs was a fair result considering the injuries and drop outs from many of your teammates. There were some outstanding performances from several members including boys player of the day Reginald and Girls player of the day Ruby both winning gold in their respected groups with some brilliant judo and dynamic throwing on both sides. We are extremely proud of you all. Other great performances included Zoe Bazzoni who improved on her bronze from last year to get to the final and finish with a silver medal this year. Another was from Lukas Persson who also won gold with some great judo.

Frustrating losing by a small margin this occasion of only 11 points to a larger squad but this was predicted. Disappointing to see so many of you not compete and lower our teams final score but as mentioned in the week we win as a team and lose as a team and hopefully learn as a team to.

Massive well done to our team of referees and officials who received good feedback on their refereeing especially most of these also went on to compete with some winning gold such as Ruby and Abderrahaim after strong performances helping to run this amazing event.

Overall I was so impressed with clubs dynamic throwing for ippon and use of action reaction utilising combinations. Already looking forward to returning next year to hopefully to regain to title.

Some really nice judo on show over the weekend at the London Open 2019 across the 2 days which always delivers showcasing some of the finest judo players from miniors through to Masters from here and abroad including commonwealth champions and Olympians.
We only had a relatively small entry so 7 solid medals at this event from our squad was a good result and pleased to say most of you put in a strong work rate and did yourselves proud including Zeynep who did her first level 4 open ranking event just missing out on a medal but showing improvements taking onboard crucial technical details since last weekend to win a rematch after losing to the same opponent last weekend. Jamila who after a long break returned to competing at this level taking a gold in Seniors and a bronze in juniors.
Well done to our clubs team of officials for doing another great job over the weekend. Proud of you all!

Remember what you put in is what you get out so let’s make sure we keep pushing ourselves out outside of our comfort zones making steady improvement and moving closer towards our goals.
