We’re swift water rescue certified! Swimming head first into rapids (on purpose) wasn’t my favorite thing, but now I know what to expect when I get launched out into the gnar. Bring it! 🤨

If you have not experienced Alaska in person, you may not know just how full your heart can feel. Add your loved ones, and you really can’t do much better in life.

Silence, minus the crunch of wind blown crust under my skis.

Kayaking along, we poked into this little nook where fresh water meets salt. (Hard to have a sharp hand held long exposure while moving on water.)

I feel the best trails are where you don’t see another person for miles. It’s just you and the soft sounds of nature.

Missing this year’s ice luminaries. Such a lovely Solstice walk in the snow. Candlelight danced across the path. People carried candle-lit paper lanterns as we all wandered down to the bonfire for drinks and merrymaking. #Alaska #wintersolstice #noplacelikehome

The salty air. Years ago we paddled to Shoup Glacier from the Valdez. Well, almost. It was good paddle along the coastline, however we underestimated the time it took to make the 13 mile trip. We missed slack tide and the opening to glacier was quite the battle. Basically ended up paddling up stream as the outgoing tide ran from the glacial area. We fought for a while, then decided to retreat. Tired and battling muscle failure, we skimmed across the still glass waters. So quiet. Not a sound minus our paddles breaking into the water. We finally made it back to the docks around 1:30 am. We ended up paddling 26 miles that day. Wonderfully unforgettable. 💙

Not too long after this photo, the ice collapsed, sadly killing someone. While beautiful, nature sure can be ruthless.

Walking while happily singing “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” Just because the radio stations won’t play it, it doesn’t mean I won’t sing it! ❄️❄️❄️

I miss everything about this. I miss flying and the views. I miss leaving the daily grind for a few hours of peace and freedom. I miss Hayley’s quirkinesses. I miss Alaska. I miss me.
