#DoloresHuerta’s mission in life is to fight for justice. At 89 years old, the Mexican American labor leader and civil rights activist continues to raise her voice to defend immigrants and to motivate Latinos to vote. ¡Sí se puede! is the motto of the @doloreshuertafdn, which recruits, trains, organizes, and empowers grassroots leaders in low-income communities to attain social justice through systemic and structural transformation. Today we acknowledge #indigenouspeoplesday. We want to take a moment of pause to reflect on the horrid experiences our ancestors suffered at the hands of colonialists who enslaved and exposed Native Americans to disease and ruin. Indigenous Peoples’ Day hopes to educate the public about the history of American colonialism and celebrate Indigenous communities who endured and survived. Maine, Vermont, and North Carolina are some of the few states now celebrating some version of Indigenous Peoples' Day on the second Monday in October. Many college campuses have dumped Columbus Day and opted, instead, to honor Indigenous Peoples' Day as have more than 100 cities, towns and counties across the United States. What are your thoughts? How will you honor the First Peoples on #indigenouspeoplesday?
Not a day goes by where we don't think about all the sacrifices our parents made to come to this country. 🙏
Early in their careers, @funnyaida and @tiffanyhaddish promised each other that whoever made it first would “throw the rope back,” and that’s exactly what happened. Friendship goals af❤️

Before @pedrocapo's music career took off, he was living in NYC and working as a waiter when he decided to try theater after a former manager persuaded him to give it a shot. Since #theyready premiered on Netflix in August, @funnyaida has been on the rise, but she doesn’t want to let the success of the show stop her from pushing herself in her comedy or her career. “One thing that I like to do is stay grounded. It’s just one set. It’s 30 minutes,” she tells @peoplechica. “It’s on to the next thing. I’ve done so many comedy sets and new jokes since then. I just want people to know that I’m going to continue to write and not get lazy and get caught up with one special.” In a recent interview with Rodriguez, we talked everything from her friendship with @tiffanyhaddish to how her kids inspired her to keep doing stand-up and how she plans to keep “throwing the rope back.” Link in bio.
Today we focus on @theritamoreno's legacy, which goes beyond her infinite awards and accolades as an actress and performer. Exclusive: @selenisleyvaofficial opened up about her revealing new memoir My Sister: How One Sibling’s Transition Changed Us Both, co-written with her sister @iam marizol that will release March 2020. "I feel that this book is about saving lives. It’s about educating the families, the communities to be supportive because what LGBTQ people and trans people in general need is support. I know that my sister wouldn’t be here today with us if she didn’t have the support I gave her and my family gave her,” the actress told CHICA. Link in bio for the full interview. 🙌
